Amazon will now give you a Motorola Droid 4 for just $99.99 with a new two-year contract. That in effect is a 50% price cut compared to Verizon's official pricing of $199.99.

Apparently the smartphones codenamed Edge and Ville won't be the only new things that HTC will show us in Barcelona at the end of this month. A third new (and previously unseen) handset may be unveiled during MWC as well. And it has leaked for the first time today. From the styling, it's pretty obvious that this is meant to serve as a successor of sorts to the Droid Incredible 2 and Incredible S. It actually has that Incredible DNA, especially if you look at the back cover. Whether or not it will be called Incredible 3 is up for debate.

Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 S6500 Unveiled

A sequel to the Samsung Galaxy Mini has been leaked and it's simply being called the Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 (S6500). It's a low-end device aimed at the affordable market but depending on pricing, it could be a decent phone for first time smartphone owners. It will have an 800MHz processor, a 3.3 inch HVGA display, 3GB of internal storage, a 3 megapixel camera and Android 2.3. The device is reportedly coming sometime this month and it's almost certain that Mobile World Congress will serve as a launch platform for it. We'll see. Blizzard is known for releasing games when “they're done”, so it's no surprise that it's been reported that Diablo 3 won't be arriving this quarter. According to its 4th quarter and calendar year earnings, “The company's first quarter 2012 outlook does not incorporate a new release from Blizzard Entertainment, but its calendar year 2012 outlook anticipates two releases from Blizzard Entertainment”. This means that the earliest we'll be seeing the game will probably be in Q2 2012 but seeing how this is Blizzard, we're not holding our breath.

We've been getting some mixed signals about Windows 8 for ARM-based devices as of late, but Microsoft's Steven Sinofsky has now returned with another of his exhaustive Building Windows 8 blog posts and cleared up some of the confusion. The short of it is that Windows for ARM promises to offer the same out of the box experience as the x86 edition of Windows 8. This includes the full Windows desktop (complete with File Explorer and the like), and the same desktop Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint (but only Office applications, it seems).

The update brings the app up to version 0.4.2.44 and introduces a useful new feature: asynchronous SMS sending aka offline queuing which means you can now write text messages and save them as drafts when you have no Google Voice connection (i.e. while you're in a tunnel or a plane) and automatically send them out as soon as you're connected again. The updated app also introduces Ice Cream Sandwich styling for the user interface, making it feel more like an integrated part of the Android experience.

The Motorola DROID BIONIC has had an update in the works for a bit of time now and it looks like testing is all wrapped up. The changelog states that V-Cast Apps and Amazon MP3 are both preloaded. We’ve also got improvements for data connectivity and stability, WiFi mobile hotspot fixes, improvements in overall device stability and a lot more. The full changelog found in this PDF file should give you a great idea of what to expect. As always, we could be seeing this anytime between now and 2-3 weeks from now, but recent updates have come within 2-3 days after Verizon publishes the changelog.

Carphone Warehouse has put the Toshiba AT200, also known as the Toshiba Excite X10, over in the UK. The 7.7mm 10 inch tablet houses a 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 5 megapixel rear camera, a front facing camera and comes in configurations of either 16GB or 32GB. This one’s still running Honeycomb, unfortunately, but Toshiba assures us that it will be getting the upgrade to Android 4.0+ sometime down the line. Pricing is £399 and £449 for the 16GB and 32GB configurations, respectively. Deliver to the mainland and store are free, but you’ll have to wait until February 15th to find it in-stores.

To be exact, February 27th is the date we should be circling. The Padfone, as you might have guessed, is a combination of a smartphone and a tablet dock. The dock would just house things such as speakers, the display, an extra battery and your standard set of buttons, but the power comes from the phone.
